Students will explore the HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) industry through a variety of hands-on activities. Participants will gain practical experience working with tools and systems used in the field while learning how residential HVAC systems operate.
First-time participants will be introduced to key industry skills, including soldering, brazing, annealing, bending copper, fabricating ductwork, and gas piping a furnace. Students will also test the operation of a residential HVAC system and learn how to recover, evacuate, and charge an air conditioning system.
Returning students will build on these foundational skills and have the opportunity to work on a more advanced Level 2 project.
What Students Will Learn:
- Fundamentals of HVAC/R systems and how they operate
- Hands-on skills including soldering, brazing, and copper bending
- Basics of ductwork fabrication and gas piping
- Operation and testing of residential HVAC systems
- Introduction to AC system recovery, evacuation, and charging
- Problem-solving and technical skills used in HVAC careers
REQUIREMENTS:
Closed toe shoes required, no sandals or Crocs etc.
No loose clothes or hoodie strings that can get caught in moving parts.
