The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development provide opportunities for local students interested in learning more about health sciences and nurse training for students who quality.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Provides direct care to patients, clients, or residents at a hospital or facility. Job opportunities available upon certification.
Must be 15 years or older.

Personal Care Worker Certification

A member of the home care team who assists clients with the tasks of daily living.
Must be 15 years or older.

CPR/AED Classes

Certification through the American Heart Association, classes are held after school and weekends. Students can earn their initial certification or become recertified.

Field Trips to Healthcare Institutions

Monthly field trips to local and state healthcare institutions for a behind-the-scenes tour and hands-on experience.

Teen Medical Programs

Will be held in the Spring of 2019, it is a six to eight-week experience that will provide hands-on healthcare activities at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Healthcare Academies

Offered monthly and provide small groups of 25-30 students an in-depth experience exploring specific health science career options, with a different theme each month.

How Do I Qualify?

Open to anyone in the Stateline Area meeting the following criteria:

  • ACT test score of 15 or higher in English and Mathematics.
  • Complete the Accuplacer Test offered FREE at Blackhawk Technical College. Sample test questions.
  • CNA program required a background check.
  • CNA program participants must be between 15 to 21 years of age.
  • Healthcare Academics participants must be between 14 to 19 years of age.
