Upcoming finalists will be notified by November 14th and will then need to be available to attend an interview between November 17-21.
Applicants will be notified by November 24th if they were selected for the scholarship program

The Hendricks Careertek CNA scholarship:

The CNA Scholarship offers high school students and young adults (age 16 – 21) the opportunity to take the nursing assistant course at Blackhawk Technical College. Students receive support throughout the sign-up process as well as the nursing assistant course. The scholarship covers the cost of:

Background check
Tuition
Books/Supplies
Uniform/scrubs
State Exam

Sessions:

Winter/Spring session is January into April. Two classes: Monday, Wednesday 12:00-4:00 and Tuesday, Thursday 4:00-8:00 at HCT
Application window is November 1-13
Summer session is June into August, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 2:00-6:00 at BTC
Application window is April 1-15
Fall session is September through November, Tuesday and Thursday, 4:00-8:00 at HCT
Application window for fall session is July 15-30

Eligibility:

Participation in multiple CareerTek activities is required
Age 16 – 21 by start of class.
A strong interest in health care or related career paths.
Review additional requirements for this program.
Must have ACT, PreACT or SAT scores, -or- pass math and reading portions of BTC’s Accuplacer to be granted an interview
Must provide a recent transcript of grades on application
Must have had a physical no earlier than July 15, 2025, or have an appointment for one no later than May 15, 2026

CNA Scholarship Details

Parent & Student Committment:

Students will be notified on April 17th regarding their status and whether they will proceed to the interview phase. If student meets the requirements, student should be available to interview at CareerTek between 4/20-4/23.

If chosen for the scholarship, both student and parent may be required to attend a virtual information meeting – offered at 5:30 Monday, April 27th.

Requirements:

(These will be completed once the student is accepted – please do not attempt to complete prior to)

Health Insurance Card
Background Check
Physical exam by qualified healthcare practitioner
2 TB tests – 1st prior to class, 2nd prior to clinicals
Current on the following Immunizations: MMR, varicella, hepatitis B, tdap, influenza, COVID-19 vaccine (or exemption)

Deadline Commitments: (for Summer 2026)

Clinical requirement documentation is uploaded to Viewpoint. Each student participating in the nursing assistant program is required to complete the requirements in Viewpoint prior to being registered for the course.
