Fungi are not just what you find on pizza.
They are one of the most structurally sophisticated organisms on the planet, and they are emerging as a serious design material for:
- Aviation
- Manufacturing
- Healthcare
- Sustainable systems
This program will introduce students to fungi as a biomaterial:
- What they are
- How they behave
- How they can be shaped
- How systems thinking built around biological materials might define the next generation of design and engineering
This program is hands on, studio-lab in structure, and built around real materials and real experimental processes.
October 8th Fungi as biomaterials
October 15th. Shrinky dinks and bioplastics
October 22nd. Design with what grows
October 29th. Interface Systems and Fire Science
