Students enrolled in the March after school program will explore Sea Otter Forensics.
They will investigate the possible causes of death of sea otters through a variety of means: Conduct lab tests to determine what caused a sea otter’s death. Interpret lab tests, maps, and photos to explain the source of the toxin that is killing them, Use a food web diagram to explain how sea otters could have high toxin concentrations, Conduct lab tests to determine the concentration of toxin that causes damage to human liver cells, Design a sign to provide information about health effects of an algal bloom and ways to avoid exposure. Listen to a Veterinarian Specialist talk about Toxicology in marine animals, as well as take a tour of Badger Veterinarian Hospital in Beloit.
