Ever wondered how apps and games are put on the internet? In this hands-on class, students will explore the basics of the DevOps process and learn how to run a simple online game in a space they control. Participants will build and publish a basic web-based game, create a database-powered backend, and learn how to update and improve their project using real-world development workflows.
Students will gain insight into how platforms like itch.io distribute applications to users around the world, while building their own project from start to finish.
What Students Will Learn:
- Basics of the DevOps process and deployment workflows
- How to publish a simple web-based game online
- Creating and connecting to a backend database
- Version control using GitHub
- Deploying applications using platforms like Vercel
- Using AI tools to generate and iterate on code
Preparation (Required Before Class):
Students should create free accounts and have login information ready for the following platforms:

Firebase (https://firebase.google.com ) for backend services
Microsoft Copilot (https://copilot.microsoft.com )or another AI tool for generating a simple game
