A CNA provides direct care to patients, clients, or residents at a hospital or facility. Job opportunities are available upon certification.

The CNA Scholarship offers high school students and young adults (age 16 – 21) the opportunity to take the nursing assistant course at Blackhawk Technical College.  Students receive support throughout the sign-up process as well as the nursing assistant course.  The scholarship covers the cost of:

• Background check
• Tuition
• Books/Supplies
• Uniform/scrubs
• State Exam

Requirements:

• Must have participated in a CareerTek activity.
• Age 16 – 21 by start of class.
• A strong interest in health care or related career paths.
• Review additional requirements specific to each program located on the sign up page.

• Wed. Aug. 5 – Fri. Aug. 14, 2020
• Applicants will be notified by Aug. 18, 2020 if they were chosen for the scholarship program
• Only 8 spots available

Deadline Commitment:

Clinical requirement documentation is uploaded to Viewpoint. Each student participating in the nursing assistant program is required to complete the requirements in Viewpoint prior to being registered for the course.

• Friday August 21, 2020
  Student must have applied to Blackhawk Technical College
• Friday August 28, 2020
  Student must have met the minimum testing requirement as outlined by Blackhawk Technical College (ACT, preACT, SAT, preSAT, or Accuplacer)
• Friday September 4, 2020
  Student must have completed their background check requirement in Viewpoint
• Wednesday September 16, 2020
  All Viewpoint requirements must be completed

Viewpoint Requirements:

(these will be completed once the student is accepted – please do not attempt to complete prior to)

• Health Insurance Card
• Background Check
• Physical exam by qualified healthcare practitioner
• 2-step-TB test
• Current on the following Immunizations: MMR, varicella, hepatitis B, tdap, influenza

Parent & Student Commitment:

Upon submission of your initial application you will receive a confirmation email. This email will include a link to the Parent & Student Commitment Contract. Both parent and student will need to read and digitally sign this contract.
