6th Grade CareerTek Introductions
Local schools bring 6th graders to Hendricks CareerTek for an exciting hour of exploration! Students will get an insider’s look at our awesome programs and all the fun activities they can join. They’ll tour our fantastic labs, dive into a hands-on activity (if time allows), meet the staff, and take home a special surprise to remind them to sign up and be part of the action! It’s an introduction full of fun that they won’t want to miss and it will leave them wanting to come back!

Career Explorations
Students dive into exciting career pathways by connecting with real-life experts! They’ll engage in dynamic panels and lively small group discussions, discovering a variety of jobs and the skills needed to thrive in each profession. From hands-on insights to educational journeys, it’s all about exploring what sparks their interests—all tailored to what the school district prefers. Let the adventure begin!
High School Mock Interviews & Prep
Here, students get to level up their resume and soft skills in a fun mock interview experience with real local professionals!
They’ll practice essential skills like dressing to impress, mastering that perfect handshake, and nailing body language and eye contact—all in a friendly, supportive environment. To wrap it all up, they’ll even send handwritten thank-you notes to their interviewers, making a lasting impression. It’s a fantastic way to gain confidence and get ready for the real deal!
High School Resume Writing
Hendricks CareerTek teams up with high school students to make building their resumes a fun and exciting experience! Together, we’ll help them craft a standout resume that not only lands that first job but also sets them up for future success. They’ll discover the key elements that make a resume pop—skills, job experiences, volunteering, and references. Plus, if there’s time, we’ll dive into the world of cover letters and teach them how to follow up on job applications like a pro. Get ready students to unlock their career potential and make those resumes shine!
Residential Construction
Schools bring students to Hendricks CareerTek to learn all about the many different career pathways throughout construction. Throughout the process, students learn the skills needed to build a house from the ground up. Students will experience all facets of construction including concrete, carpentry, roofing, framing, plumbing, electrical, and interior/exterior finishing work.
School Career Rep Luncheon
Join us for a lively monthly gathering of career reps from local school districts! It’s the perfect chance to connect and share insights—all over a delicious, uninterrupted lunch. Plus, we bring in professional resources from the community (and beyond) to foster those connections as well as talk about hot topic items. It’s not just a meeting; it’s an engaging opportunity to learn, network, and enjoy some great food together!
Solid Works
Students will learn all about a CAD program called SolidWorks. Students will spend their time learning how to operate within the program, how to read and understand technical drawings, how to create basic to advanced parts, and how to create basic to advanced multipart assemblies. Students will follow a curriculum that will prepare them for the Certified SolidWorks Associate Exam (CSWA). This is an excellent opportunity to learn if a career in Mechanical Design and Engineering is right for you.
Specialty Classroom/Group Exploration
These are exciting one-time explorations that happen when schools or groups reach out to us about topics their learners are curious about! We partner with community members to create engaging experiences that dive deep into those interests, helping students gain a better understanding—and sparking their curiosity to explore even further! It’s all about making learning fun and inspiring! (These are typically half or full day explorations)
Tours/Field Trips
Bringing students together to explore different career paths firsthand, especially with visits to notable institutions like UW-Madison Nursing School and Froedtert Hospital, can provide valuable insights for those interested in healthcare. The inclusion of The Beloit Club for hospitality careers adds a nice balance for students with varied interests.
The comfortable travel arrangements and thoughtful touch of a delicious lunch make the day both educational and enjoyable. These trips will not only broaden students’ perspectives but also leave a lasting, positive impression.
Wisconsin Business World-Mini Program
MINI Business World is a one-day immersive program where students practice building a business from the ground up. Students from multiple schools join together to come up with a full business plan including creating a new product, building a prototype, creating a marketing plan, and forming a budget. Students leave MINI Business World with a better understanding of business principles, entrepreneurship, career opportunities in Wisconsin, and the important role businesses play in our communities.
CNA Class
Program Description
CNA classes are for students who have been awarded the CareerTek CNA scholarship. Students meet at CareerTek classroom and healthcare lab for 90 hours of instruction, plus 24 hours of practicing their skills in a clinical setting. They learn critical topics like patient safety, ambulation, and personal care, as well as proficiency in personal protection care. By the end of the course, students are prepared to make a real difference in the lives of those they care for and take the next step toward a fulfilling healthcare career.
Turtle Tek Program
Program Description
Turtle Tek is dedicated to growing FIRST in the Wisconsin-Illinois Stateline area. They do this by Teaching Engineering to Kids. Turtle Tek is a team that was founded in 2022. They are based in Beloit, WI and are made up of 8 team members from two states, many schools and at an age range of 8th-12th grade. Their team mission is to help grow FIRST on all levels in their area as they are the only FIRST Tech Challenge team on the Stateline.
Scholarship Programs
Program Description
Hendricks CareerTek offers two different scholarships for students. We offer the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Scholarship for students interested in the healthcare field that want to obtain that license through Blackhawk Technical College. We also offer our College and Career Scholarship for high school seniors that are entering a 2-4-year college program or a registered apprenticeship.
