A CNA provides direct care to patients, clients, or residents at a hospital or facility. Job opportunities are available upon certification.
The CNA Scholarship offers high school students and young adults (age 16 – 21) the opportunity to take the nursing assistant course at Blackhawk Technical College. Students receive support throughout the sign-up process as well as the nursing assistant course. The scholarship covers the cost of:
- Background check
- Tuition
- Books/Supplies
- Uniform/scrubs
- State Exam
Requirements:
- Must have participated in a CareerTek activity.
- Age 16 – 21 by start of class.
- A strong interest in health care or related career paths.
- Review additional requirements specific to each program located on the sign up page.
Scholarship Application Window:
- Wed. Aug. 5 – Fri. Aug. 14, 2020
- Applicants will be notified by Aug. 18, 2020 if they were chosen for the scholarship program
- Only 8 spots available
Deadline Commitment:
Clinical requirement documentation is uploaded to Viewpoint. Each student participating in the nursing assistant program is required to complete the requirements in Viewpoint prior to being registered for the course.

Student must have met the minimum testing requirement as outlined by Blackhawk Technical College (ACT, preACT, SAT, preSAT, or Accuplacer) - Friday September 4, 2020
Student must have completed their background check requirement in Viewpoint - Wednesday September 16, 2020
All Viewpoint requirements must be completed

Viewpoint Requirements:
(these will be completed once the student is accepted – please do not attempt to complete prior to)
- Health Insurance Card
- Background Check
- Physical exam by qualified healthcare practitioner
- 2-step-TB test
- Current on the following Immunizations: MMR, varicella, hepatitis B, tdap, influenza
Parent & Student Commitment:
Upon submission of your initial application you will receive a confirmation email. This email will include a link to the Parent & Student Commitment Contract. Both parent and student will need to read and digitally sign this contract.
