I’ve loved art and film for as long as I can remember and I’ve participated in so many cool activities through CareerTek and elsewhere. Thomas Devine

My name is Thomas Devine. I’m a graduating senior from Wisconsin Connections Academy and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I plan to major in Business with a minor in Computer Science. Throughout high school I was active in Badger 4-H Club where I served on the board, did volunteer work, and played sports. I appreciate this opportunity from Hendricks CareerTek and I’ve enjoyed learning from all the programs they’ve offered.
Miguel Garcia
Beloit Memorial H.S.
My name is Miguel Garcia and I’m a 2021 graduate from Beloit Memorial High School. I will likely be attending UW-Madison this fall where I will pursue a degree in Biology. I am extremely grateful to be receiving the Hendricks Careertek Scholarship since they believe in my potential both inside and outside of the classroom.
Throughout high school, I was actively involved in National Honor Society, Theatre, Upward Bound, Tennis, Key Club, and Academic Decathlon. I was also the Class of 2021’s Vice President. In the last two years, I have been recognized as a Questbridge College Prep Scholar, a Questbridge National College Match finalist, a Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar semi finalist, a Wisconsin State Senate Scholar, and an AP Scholar.
Mary Kampmeier
South Beloit H.S.
My name is Mary Kampmeier and I am a graduate from South Beloit High School. I will be attending Blackhawk Technical College this Fall for the Physical Therapy Assistant program. I was involved with CareerTek throughout high school and it all started when they offered me a spot in their CNA program. I have now been a CNA for around 2 years, and love what I am able to do when it comes to helping people!
Throughout my 4 years at South Beloit High School, our school worked with CareerTek to do things like Innovation Sprints and Career Panels and explorations. I will forever be grateful for the opportunities that Hendricks CareerTek gave me and opened my eyes to the MANY different jobs that are available in the medical field that I, before they showed me, didn’t even know existed. The Hendricks organization is an amazing organization to be a part of and continues to inspire the youth right in our community.
Camille Knight
Beloit Memorial H.S.
My name is Camille Knight, and I’m a senior at Beloit Memorial High School. I transferred about a year ago from a school in northern Wisconsin, and I really appreciate the dedication the staff at both my school and CareerTek have shown to make me feel comfortable as a new senior student. I was involved in the Play Monster toys Game Night at CareerTek, and it helped me to become more social and make some new friends in Beloit, as well as broaden my perspective in terms of business education and entrepreneurship.
I also conducted an interview with a foreman on the up-and-coming Snappers stadium, which helped me with my public speaking skills and
allowed me to make connections with people in my chosen field of engineering. Overall, I really appreciate the scholarship and what CareerTek has done in terms of helping me reach my goals for the future.
Eleanor Lindsay
Beloit Turner H.S.
My name is Eleanor Lindsay and I am a graduate of Turner High School. During high school I actively participated in many extracurriculars including XC, Track, Science Olympiad, Yearbook, National Honors, and Student Council. I have been involved in CareerTek since the 2017 Dare to Dream event with Mike Rowe. This showed me there are many paths to choose from when you graduate. From there I have had the opportunity to go on a job shadow and now receive their scholarship.
I plan on attending Highland Community College in the fall pursuing a degree in Animal Science. I am currently volunteering at a barn in South Beloit. I believe that everyone should get involved with CareerTek as they are an amazing organization who are helping young people pursue their dreams.
Lilian Mannino
Clinton H.S.
My name is Lily Mannino, and I am a 2021 graduate of Clinton High School. I have participated in many extracurricular activities including Honor Society, Dog Obedience and Agility, Honors Band, Student Council, Math Team, German Club, Club Volleyball, and School Volleyball. This upcoming fall, I will be attending the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater to pursue a degree in Biology with an honors emphasis. After that, I plan to attend a graduate school for some type of degree in the medical field.
I would love to become a dietitian, geneticist, surgeon, or physical therapist, but I am sure that I will continue to have new interests as I am introduced to more fields of biology in college and job shadows! I was fortunate to participate in many CareerTek field trips that have revolved around the medical field. I have taken courses such as Stop the Bleed and CNA through CareerTek as well. These opportunities have assisted me in my decision to study biology and medicine. I am forever grateful for the amazing opportunities that I have been granted.
Kaelyn Miller
Beloit Memorial H.S.
My name is Kaelyn Miller and I am a 2021 graduate at Beloit Memorial High School. Throughout high school I was involved in the National Honor Society, the National Arts Honor Society, FCA, Link Crew and I was also a part of theVarsity team for girls swimming. This upcoming fall I will be attending the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. I am interested in Physical Therapy specialising in pediatrics and minoring in psychology however, I’m still undecided, and plan on going into school with an open mind to new ideas. Throughout my senior year I was fortunate to have been introduced to CareerTek and all of the opportunities they had to offer.
I was a part of the Stadium Project, getting to go onsite at the ABC Stadium and interview some of the construction workers. We then put together a series of videos showing what their career is like and how they got to that point. I was lucky to have been able to be an interviewer as well as work behind the camera and with the sound equipment. CareerTek not only showed me these sorts of things but they also created a space where I was able to ask questions and get help with college preparation. I am extremely honored to have been awarded this scholarship and it will be a tremendous help financially in going off to college. I am so grateful to have had CareerTek in my life and appreciate all they do to be a huge help to so many others to help them achieve their lifelong goals.
Piper Mitchell
Beloit Memorial H.S.
My name is Piper Mitchell and I am a 2021 graduate from Beloit Memorial High School. Throughout my high school career I have been involved in several clubs and activities. I am Secretary of National Honor Society and a member of the Beloit Memorial Jazz Orchestra, Key Club, and Link Crew. Outside of school activities, I spend my time volunteering, working, game night with friends, and enjoying music. I am a dedicated, hardworking, and independent person.
I have been very serious about my education the past four years and am striving to carry my dedication into my college education. Next year I will be attending the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. CareerTek has significantly guided and influenced my senior year through college seminars, workshops, and a quiet space to work. CareerTek offers an environment targeted towards individuals who have a desire to learn. I am sincerely thankful to receive the Hendricks CareerTek scholarship. CareerTek gives students the opportunity to get help needed to succeed.
Sydney Prowse
Beloit Memorial H.S.
My name is Sydney Prowse and I am a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School in Beloit, Wisconsin. This fall I will be attending Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota to pursue a degree in biology in hopes of becoming a physician. The CareerTek Scholarship will help me make it through undergraduate school debt-free so I can save money for medical school. I am captain of Beloit Memorial High School’s Women’s Swim Team, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Key Club. I am also currently working at the Stateline Family YMCA right across the street from CareerTek.
I first got involved with CareerTek when I found out about a field trip they were organizing to UW-Madison’s School of Nursing. The field trip was an amazing experience and it really helped spark my interest in the medical field. When COVID-19 shut everything down, CareerTek felt like a safe space and I spent much of my free time participating in their offered opportunities. I’m very grateful not only for the scholarship but also for the many opportunities CareerTek provided me and other Beloit-area students.
James Vences

My name is James Vences and I’m a graduate from Beloit Memorial High School. I am also one of the recipients of the Hendricks CareerTek Scholarship! I will be attending the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee this upcoming fall majoring in Computer Engineering to achieve my dream of becoming a Software Developer. CareerTek had an impact on my decision to go to college because they advised me about all the options I had career wise and identified my strengths were in alignment with academia. I am grateful to CareerTek for providing resources and opportunities that increases my chance of success in all aspects of life.
During high school I was involved with National Honor Society, Lulac, Wrestling, Porter Scholar and a student leader in Upward Bound. Outside of extracurricular activities I was involved with local politics such as school board meetings and I would volunteer at Second Harvest Food bank, Math 24 and Wisconsin Science Festival. As a result of my hard work I have been recognized as top ten percent of my class, as well as other special achievements. Currently I have been doing web development as a hobby which is why i look forward to studying Computer Engineering in college! Thank you CareerTek for making a difference in my life. Leah Wicklund
Hononegah H.S.
My name is Leah Wicklund, and I am a 2021 graduate of Hononegah Community High School. During my time at Hononegah, I was a part of several extracurriculars. I discovered my love for tennis and earned my varsity letter for senior year. I was also involved in National Honor Society, and held club positions in Stand Up to Cancer, Leo, Extreme Sports, and Baking Club.
This fall I will be attending UW-Oshkosh majoring in Nursing. My ultimate goal is to pursue a career as a Certified Nurse Midwife! I have participated in several events through Hendricks CareerTek that have strengthened my interest in working in healthcare. I am grateful to have
earned the Hendricks CareerTek CNA scholarship in 2019 which helped me to complete the CNA program at Blackhawk Technical College. I now work as a CNA at NorthPointe Terrace Assisted Living, gaining skills I will use in college and beyond.
I am so fortunate for all of the services this organization has provided! It has supported my interests through high school and has prepared me for college in more ways than one
Kana Wong
Beloit Memorial H.S.
My name is Kana Wong and I’ll be graduating from Beloit Memorial High School this June. Throughout high school I’ve been involved in National Honor Society, Student Senate, Future Business Leaders of America, and Key Club. I’ve been a part of the boys swim team for the past four years, and have also participated in volleyball, track, and soccer for Beloit Memorial.
This past year I’ve tried to stay busy through work and volunteering for NHS. I also decided to join some new programs in my spare time, one of which was the Stadium Project through CareerTEK. In the program we interviewed engineers, architects, and foremen who were working on the new ABC Supply Stadium, and learned how to edit those interviews into short videos. It was a really fun project, and I’ve been able to use the video editing skills that I learned there in a couple of my own projects since then.
Next year I’ll be attending UW Madison’s College of Engineering, although I am still undecided in my field. I’m really grateful to have been given this scholarship, and for all of the opportunities CareerTEK has provided me with this past year.
